Chilepupper Harper
September 12, 1996 – November 18, 2009
New Orleans , Louisiana
Chilepupper passed away Wednesday November 18th, 2009 at 5pm after a battle with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and other age related illnesses, he was 13 years old.
Chilepupper was the cherished companion to Dawnene and Charlene since he was a puppy. Chile was born in Granada Hills, California on September 12, 1996, a spunky little black and tan smooth hair “tweenie” who came from a dachshund family with a long line of grand champions and prize winning dachshunds. Although Chile himself was not a show dog, he was the best and prettiest boy in the entire world to us. Chile spent the first 8 years of his life in Southern California where he enjoyed going to the beach and swimming in Malibu and walking through his suburban neighborhood in Burbank. In October of 2005, Chile and his dachshund “brother” Houdini moved with his family to New Orleans, Louisiana and immediately settled into the groove of the Crescent City. He took great pleasure in the warm climate and friendly people he met through the dachshund meetups. He loved going to the Forest Retreat in McComb Mississippi and to the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores Alabama and the occasional neighborhood pub.
Chilepupper was an extremely obedient and loving creature with deep soulful eyes that spoke of his high intellect. Chilepupper was a survivor of hurricanes and multiple illnesses but also a constant provider of comfort and love for many years to his human family and “brother” Houdini. To say that he will be missed couldn’t begin to come close to describing the unfathomable grief we feel with his passing. There is a hole in our lives and hearts that will never be filled though we take some comfort in knowing that we will at some point in another life, be together with him again. Chile is survived by Houdini and GrisGris, his dachshund “brothers”, his “baby” Charlene and “mom” Dawnene.
As Charlene said to me on the day we went to look at Chile when he was a puppy – she was only 7 years old at the time – “Yep, this one is good” She was so right, not only was he good….he was the best boy in the world. Chilepupper was named by Charlene and we used to have to correct people “No, no, no, not Chile PEPPER, Chile PUPPER” It makes me smile still to think how much he loved his name.
We humbly request that if you are interested in making a tribute to Chilepupper that any donations are made in his loving memory to the any of the following organizations. Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue, The All American Dachshund Rescue or the North American Dachshund Rescue.
